PTSA is excited to highlight a volunteer opportunity to get involved with the school if you are interested!

Maria Zekoski and myself, Sienna Newman are the co-chairs of Manual’s College & Career Center (CCC). For those unfamiliar with the CCC, let me explain what it is and what we do. The CCC room is located in the Guidance office and is a fantastic resource for all students. It holds many different exam prep materials (ACT/SAT, AP, PSAT, etc.), college brochures, books on majors and occupations, military and vocational paths, scholarships and financial aid, summer employment opportunities, and is a meeting place for college rep visits.

Every Fall, we have over 100 college representatives from around the country visit our CCC to meet with students. This is a phenomenal way for students to interact with each college to learn more about the admissions process and to connect with someone from the university. This past year, USC, Vanderbilt, Princeton, U. Chicago, U Penn, and Yale were just a few of the colleges who visited. Last year the visits were a combination of in-person and virtual. This year many more schools will be in-person. So this is where we need your help!

So what does a CCC volunteer do? You come to the college and career center during the time that you signed up and help monitor the college representative visits. Your responsibilities are to host a college rep (give them coffee or water, etc.), to monitor the visits, and help make sure everything runs smoothly. These are all very easy tasks and do not require any experience. The majority of the shifts are on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and are set up for three-hour blocks.
If you think you would be interested in volunteering in the CCC for the 2022-2023 school year, please sign up for a time slot at Manual High School: College and Career Center (signupgenius.com)
